Self-awareness and presence are key elements of mastery for coaches, and allow us to make an authentic connection with our clients. It’s also true that presence turns out to be the only state from which we (and our clients!) can really take resourceful new actions. Being present with our clients, and making coaching moves that bring them into presence, is foundational to helping our clients become self-generative, resilient, effective, and fulfilled. Presence, in fact, provides the very foundation for using the skills, knowledge and experience gleaned over decades when the context is changing in rapid and unpredictable ways.
This participatory workshop focuses on presence as the grounding for our professional efficacy. We will explore how presence enables new actions, and builds the capability to be self-generative and authentic. We will explore how to access presence, establish and hold a relational field with others, and use coaching moves that are rooted in presence. The workshop includes a demonstration and coaching practice. You will leave with pragmatic new tools for building your own presence and working with clients.
Outcomes
- Distinguish between presence and lack of presence, both in yourself and others,
- Apply tools for bringing yourself into presence,
- Establish a relational field with a client,
- Experience and distinguish the four stages of self-generation, and
- Apply specific coaching moves that evoke presence.
